Men's Basketball Travels to Wesley for Capital Semi-Final Tilt

DOVER, DE- Christopher Newport takes on the Wolverines of Wesley Thursday night at Wentworth Gymnasium. A trip to the CAC Championship Game is on the line, as the winner will play the St. Mary's/Mary Washington victor Saturday afternoon at the higher seed.

The Captains, fifth-seeded in the CAC Tournament, are 18-8 following a 59-56 overtime win Tuesday night at Salisbury in the quarterfinals. Senior Tra Benefield led the way for CNU with 26 points, and is fifth on the school's all-time scoring list.

Fellow senior Luc Atangana came off the bench Tuesday night and scored a season-high 16 points for CNU while junior Mike Cherry added 14, including a six-for-six run at the foul line in the overtime period to help put the game away.

Wesley is 22-2 on the year, and the top seed in the CAC Tournament. The Wolverines have not lost at home this season, going 10-0 at Wentworth Gymnasium. Jerry Kobasa's squad has beaten the Captains in both meetings this season. The game on February 8th in Dover went to the wire, with the Wolverines escaping with a 66-63 triumph.

Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. Thursday night. The game will be broadcast live on the CNU/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) and audio and video will be available at www.CNUsports.com/live
