NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- For the first time in the 2014-15 season, the Christopher Newport women's basketball team will open the doors to the Freeman Center as they host North Carolina Wesleyan College (2-1) at 6:00 pm. The Captains (2-2) face the former conference rivals for the 78th time, holding a 61-16 all-time advantage in the series. 

Through the first four games, the Captains have been led by senior forward Camry Green, who leads the nation in double-doubles and ranks fifth nationally in offensive rebounding and eighth nationally in total rebounding. She is currently leading the team with 15.0 rebounds per game while scoring a team-high 13.8 points per game. She has posted four straight double-doubles to open the season, and has eight in her last nine games dating back to last year. 

Freshman Bailey Dufrene is second on the team in scoring, chipping in 11.5 points per game while juniors Jordan Miller and Kendra Stone are averaging 9.3 and 8.8 points per game, respectively. Sophomore Lauren Cox has started all four games at point guard and leads the team in assists per game with 4.3.

The Battling Bishops won their first two games by one bucket, dropping Hollins by a final score of 67-64, and Hollins, 79-77. They then hosted Guilford College, who the Captains defeated in the season opener, falling to the Quakers 68-45. Sophomore Kenyata Harris leads the team with 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while senior Derreon Cole is adding 10.3 points per game off the bench.
