NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- CNU's Men's Basketball squad hits the road this weekend for a pair of non-conference games against opponents from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Captains, 1-0 following an overtime win over ODAC member Randolph-Macon Tuesday night to open the season, will travel to Lexington on Friday night to take on Washington & Lee. Tipoff time is set for 7:00 p.m.
John Krikorian's squad will then head to Lynchburg for a Sunday afternoon tilt with the Hornets of Lynchburg College. Game time Sunday is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The Captains held off the Yellow Jackets thanks to great production from three new faces who were playing their first games in a CNU uniform. Freshmen
Logan Miller posted 12 points,
Aaron McFarland scored 11 and
Marcus Carter tallied 10 in a 71-70 thriller over Randolph-Macon. Senior
Mike Cherry led all CNU scorers with 14 points.
Washington & Lee is 2-1 heading into Friday night's showdown with the Captains. The Generals lost at Ferrum on Wednesday night after opening the season with victories over Hood and Gettysburg in double overtime.
Lynchburg is 2-0 to start the season. The Hornets opened the year with a road triumph at Mary Washington, and followed it with a home victory over Averett.
