The Captains fall to 12-3-4 on the season with a 3-2-3 record in league play while the Lions muddled the CAC playoff picture even further, improving to 12-4-0 overall and 5-3-0 in the CAC. Eight teams remain in the hunt for the six CAC Tournament spots, including a wide open race for the top two spots and a first-round bye.
On Senior Day for the Lions, the home team responded by getting two first half goals against the CNU defense. In the 13th minute, Aaron Kline scored an unassisted tally that was followed by a penalty kick goal in the 32nd minute by Alex Panuccio.
Early in the second half, an insurance goal from Isaac Amedza would all but seal the match for Penn State Harrisburg. The Captains answered quickly after the third score with their first and only goal of the game when
Sean Christein played in his second goal of the season.
The Captains held a dominant 20-7 advantage in total shots and peppered Lions keeper Brandon Hoover with nine shots on-frame, but could only find the back of the net once. CNU's junior goalkeeper
Sam Lesko made one save on four on-frame attempts by Penn State Harrisburg.
In the first half, CNU held a 12-3 edge in total shots. In his second start of the year, sophomore
Patrick Burns led the team in total shots with six, including two on-goal. Senior defender
Alec Faulkner added four total shots with three on-net.
The loss Saturday eliminated the Captains from a top two finishing spot, but CNU will certainly factor into how the chips fall for postseason seeding when they close out the season on Wednesday, October 29 against Marymount University at 7:00 pm.
