About CNU
The Captains won the USA South Championship last weekend, with three straight wire-to-wire victories. It was CNU's fourth conference title in the last five years and earned the Captains' their 15th NCAA Tournament appearance. This season, the Captains defense has led the way, ranking among the nation's best. CNU has held opponents to 55 points or less in 22 games this year, including against nationally-ranked Ferrum in the USA South championship game. CNU ranks 11th nationally in field goal percentage defense (30.7) and eighth in three-point field-goal defense (22.9).

Offensively, junior Tia Perry leads the way, scoring nearly 14 points a game. The first-team All-Conference selection earned Tournament MVP honors last week, after nearly posting a triple-double in the title game with 16 points, eight rebounds and nine steals. Sophomore Camry Green is nearly averaging a double-double for the year, grabbing 9.9 rebounds per game to go with 11.3 points per contest.

NCAA Tournament History
CNU is making it's 15th appearance in the postseason dance after winning the 11th conference title in program history. The Captains are 12-15 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, and 7-3 over their last 10 games.

The Competition
CNU will take on Guilford College, the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference champs. The Quakers are 23-4 and are led by first-team All-Conference selection Gabby Oglesby. She leads the team in scoring, rebounding and blocks, while front court teammate Morgan King earned All-Tournament honors for her effort last weekend.

Marymount University won the Capital Athletic Conference and features one of the most talented shooters in the nation, Katelyn Fischer. The Saints' senior earned CAC Player of the Year honors for the second straight season and ranks in the top ten nationally in three-point shooting percentage. Head coach Ashlee Courter, the CAC Coach of the Year, will be playing for career win #100 on Friday.

Eastern Mennonite University defeated Guilford twice in the regular season, but fell victim to the Quakers by a narrow margin in the ODAC Championship to take league runner-up honors. The 21-6 Royals are led by ODAC Coach of the Year Kevin Griffin, and come into the Newport News pod winners in 14 of their last 15 contests.
