ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -- Keeping their winning streak alive with a pair of victories last week, the Christopher Newport volleyball team will look to extend its roll on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when the Captains head to St. Mary's for a Capital Athletic Conference match-up at the O'Brien Athletic & Recreation Center.
Entering the contest riding a season-high six-match winning streak, CNU currently sits at 17-11 overall and 4-0 in the CAC. St. Mary's has also been impressive this year, boasting a 15-6 overall mark. In conference action, the Seahawks sit at 1-3 after falling in their previous three league tilts.
Not all that familiar with one another, the Captains and Seahawks have gone 11 years without meeting on the court. Overall, St. Mary's holds a 7-4 lead in the all-time series, but Christopher Newport has won the previous two bouts, including a 3-0 victory during their last showdown in 2002.

Killing it on the outside, freshman
Briana Sutton has a team-high 191 kills and stands second on the team with a .258 hitting percentage.
Abby McIntyre has also chipped in with 177 kills this year, while
Harper Smith returned to the lineup last week and came through with eight blasts on Friday following a six-week absence while mending an injury.
Yielding a paltry 7.7 kills-per-set during its recent winning streak, Christopher Newport has received solid contributions from its back row players.
Brooke Moore has helped stabilize the defense with 61 digs during the recent surge, while
Evelyn Harper also collected the first three double-digit dig efforts of her career during the past two weeks. The standouts have also dominated from the service line, combining for 10 aces during the last two matches alone.
Adept on both sides of the ball,
Rachel Conway leads the team with 515 assists and ranks second with 65 blocks. Fellow setter
Paxton Crooks has also contributed 388 helpers and 151 digs as well.
Victorious in its first CAC match of the season against Penn State Harrisburg, St. Mary's has dropped its last three decisions against Salisbury, York, and Mary Washington. Despite the recent stumble, the Seahawks remain nine games over .500 and have won eight of their previous 12 matches overall.
