SCHEDULE UPDATE: CNU Women's Basketball Hosts Peace at 6:00 pm Saturday

Captains game moved from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport University Interim Director of Athletics Jon Waters announced a women's basketball schedule change for Saturday, January 26, as the Captains will host William Peace University at 6:00 pm. The game, originally scheduled for 2:00 pm, is being moved to the latter part of a doubleheader with the mens' team due to weather-related concerns. The CNU men will take on Methodist University at 4:00 pm in the Freeman Center, with the women's game immediately following.

Live stats and live video will be available of both contests on CNUsports.com.

CNU head coach Bill Broderick, in his first year with the Captains, has guided the team to a 14-2 start, including a 7-2 record against league opponents. Tia Perry leads the squad in scoring, with 14.5 points per game, while Camry Green (10.8 ppg) and Nicole Mitchell (10.3 ppg) are also in double figures.

Peace has started the year 5-11 with just one win in their first nine conference games. The Pacers are led by a pair of guards, Crystal Alston (13.1 ppg) and Krystal Williams (12.6 ppg), who are also ranked first and second on the team in assists, steals and three-pointers made.

It will be the first and only matchup of the year for CNU against the Pacers as the Captains look to add to a 14-game winning streak against William Peace. CNU holds a dominant 20-2 all-time advantage in the series.
