NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Christopher Newport's football squad travels to Hampden-Sydney Saturday for the first road game of 2012. Matt Kelchner's team will take on the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney for the first time ever. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium.

"It's really a great game to have on our schedule," Kelchner said. "We have a lot of respect for Hampden-Sydney's program and Coach Favret. It will be a tremendous challenge for our team."

The Captains are coming off a season-opening loss to 7th-ranked Salisbury last Saturday, 40-16, at POMOCO Stadium. The game was tied, 13-13, late in the third quarter before the Sea Gulls took control and opened the lead. It's been a spirited week of practice for CNU following the defeat.

Hampden-Sydney is 1-0 after winning at Averett last Saturday, 20-6. The Tigers have won 15 straight home games dating back to 2008.

The game will be broadcast live on the CNU/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) and on CNUsports.com.
