NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Captains of Christopher Newport (0-2) look for their first win of the season this weekend, and they will do it against a very familiar opponent. Saturday night in Winchester, CNU takes on former USA South member Shenandoah. The Hornets (1-1) are now members of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium.
It will be the 12th meeting all-time with Shenandoah, and the Captains lead the series, 8-3. CNU has taken the last seven games, including three in a row in Winchester.
The Captains opened the year with a home loss to Salisbury and last week were defeated at Hampden-Sydney. Shenandoah began the season with a road win at Stevenson, and last week lost at home to Ferrum.
It will be the final non-conference game of the season for
Matt Kelchner's squad. CNU will have an off week next week and then will open USA South Conference play on September 29th at Maryville.
All Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the CNU/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) and on Captains Sports Live at CNUsports.com. Saturday's pre-game show begins at 6:30 p.m.
