NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The third-ranked Christopher Newport Captains (17-4, 4-2) will host a conference doubleheader against North Carolina Wesleyan (14-15, 2-4) on Sunday, beginning at Noon. The two nine-inning games will be webcast live at CNUsports.com, weather permitting.

CNU is coming off a big win over Tufts University, receiving votes in the national rankings, taking a 9-4 victory over the Jumbos on Friday. The Captains improved to 17-4 overall as sophomore Nick Santalucia picked up the victory. Junior ace Greg Goldsmith will start one of the games on Sunday, sporting a 1.80 ERA through five starts so far.

Offensively, senior Shannon Mark is hitting .397 with four triples and a team-best .517 on-base percentage. Preseason All-American Connor Madden leads the team in nearly every offensive category with 33 hits, 20 runs, 27 RBI, 12 steals and three home runs.

The Battling Bishops are also coming off a win over Tufts, taking a 1-0 victory behind a dominant pitching effort from Jackson Pleasant. In seven appearances and five starts, Pleasant is among the league-leaders in ERA with a 1.34 after allowing just five earned runs in 33.2 innings pitched. The Bishops have just one home run as a team this season, but boast five regulars batting over .300 on the season. Tyler Clark has started 28 games and is hitting .321 with a team-best 25 RBI.
