CNU Women Open Road Trip at Virginia Wesleyan Monday at 6:00 PM

Captains set for nine straight games on the road

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The undefeated CNU women's basketball team will put their sterling record on the line away from home tonight, as they kick off a long road trip that will span over the next month with a game at cross-water rival Virginia Wesleyan College (5-4). Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm in Virginia Beach at the Batten Center, with live stats and live video available at CNUsports.com.

Monday evening's game will be the first of nine straight away from the Freeman Center, including eight in a row after the holiday break. CNU will take on the Marlins and St. Mary's College (Md.) in non-conference action before hitting the road for seven straight in conference action.

The Captains have raced out to a 7-0 start this season, led by strong defense and a balanced offensive attack. CNU is holding opponents to just 51.4 points per game while also grabbing 14.3 steals per contest. Offensively, four Captains are scoring over nine points per game, while five different players have registered 10 or more assists. Sophomore Camry Green is averaging a double-double, with 11.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, while junior Tia Perry is pouring in a team-high 14.7 points per game.

Virginia Wesleyan features a young squad with just one senior in 2012-13, after going 22-6 and reaching the ODAC Championship game last year. The team has opened with seven of their first nine games on the road, winners of four of the last five. Sophomore guard Sarah Seipp is leading the offense, averaging 13.9 points per game.
