ROANOKE, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's basketball team is back in action Monday night as the team travels to Roanoke College for a non-conference tilt. The Captains (2-0) tip off against the host Maroons (1-3) at 6:00 pm, with live stats and live video available at the Roanoke athletics website.
CNU has not played in nine days since sweeping the opening weekend tournament at Marymount University with wins over Gettysburg and Marymount. The Captains have been led by sophomore center
Camry Green, averaging a team-high 17.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. Rookie
Jordan Miller has added 10.0 points per game with five made 3-pointers through the first two games.
Roanoke has started the year 1-3 with the lone win coming against N.C. Wesleyan, 74-60. In the other three games, The Maroons have been held to less than 50 points and have been held to just 29% shooting. Paxton Gwin is averaging a team-high 15.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
The game is the last of three to start the season away from the Freeman Center. The Captains will open up USA South action this weekend with home games against LaGrange College and Piedmont College, the first two games of a four-game home swing.
