Captains Take on Salisbury Monday Night at Home

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport University men's basketball team will look to extend it's winning streak to 11 games tonight, as they play host to Salisbury University at 7:30 pm. The Captains are coming off one of the biggest wins of the season, a 91-69 victory on the road to then-undefeated in USA South play Greensboro. CNU improved to 14-3 overall, 6-0 in the USA South, and will take on a 9-7 Sea Gulls squad coming off a close loss to nationally ranked St. Mary's (Md.).

Game time is set for 7:30 pm; live stats and a live video webcast will be available at CNUsports.com. The game will also be broadcasted on Xtra 99.1 FM, the CNU/Pepsi Radio Network.

Christopher Newport comes into the game with a win streak reaching double figures for the first time since the 2003 season, winning the past ten games. Senior Conley Taylor and rookie Mike Cherry each led the way last time out, scoring 18 points apiece. Since taking over the starting point guard position, Cherry is averaging 13.7 points per game and 2.3 made three-pointers per contest. He's also dishing out nearly three assists per game.

Salisbury comes into the game with a 9-7 overall mark after nearly upsetting nationally ranked St. Mary's (Md.) last time out. Riding a three-game skid, the Sea Gulls have been led this season by Mike Maczko. Maczko is averaging 13.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, both team-highs.
