Captains Host Shenandoah in USA South Doubleheader Wednesday

CNU games tip at 5:30, 7:30

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport University basketball teams will be in action Wednesday night, taking on the Shenandoah University Hornets. The women's game will tip off at 5:30 pm, followed immediately by the men's game approximately at 7:30 pm. Both games will be available in a live video webcast, and live statistics will also be available at tip.

The doubleheader will be the last time the two schools will match up in conference action in the Freeman Center, as Shenandoah will join the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) next year.

The CNU women's team (11-3, 6-1) returns to action against Shenandoah (5-9, 2-5) after CNU posted a big conference win on the road, downing then-#20 Greensboro College. Sam Akers leads the way for Shenandoah, scoring 10.1 points per game, including a 12.4 ppg average in conference play.

On the men's side, CNU (12-3, 4-0) takes on first-year head coach Rob Pryor and the Hornets (4-13, 2-2), as the Captains are riding an eight-game winning streak. Two of Shenandoah's four wins have been in the USA South, including a Monday night win over Methodist. Avery Green is pouring in 15.8 points per game on 53% shooting so far this season.

The men's game will be broadcast live on Xtra 99.1 FM on the CNU/Pepsi Radio Network.
