GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Christopher Newport University women's team faces a tough test this weekend, traveling to preseason favorite and nationally ranked Greensboro College (8-2, 5-1) for a 2:00 pm tilt on Saturday. The Pride is coming off its first conference and second overall loss of the season after a setback at Ferrum, but currently holds an unbeaten 4-0 mark in home games this season. CNU is riding a modest five-game winning streak, including a home win over Ferrum last week.
Live stats and a live video webcast will be available at the Greensboro College Athletics website, or by

The Captains will be returning to Hanes Gymnasium for the first time since they cut down the nets in the 2011 USA South Championship Game for their third straight conference championship. CNU lost three starters from that squad, but has seen the emergence of sophomore scoring leaders
Tia Perry and
Nicole Mitchell early this season. Perry leads the team in scoring and rebounding, with 11.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while Mitchell is second in both categories with 11.7 and 6.1, respectively.
Seniors
Lauren Gural,
Kimmy Hopkins and
Jerlisa Bowser were a part of all three USA South championship squads, including twice against the Greensboro Pride.
This season's Pride, though, features one of the most dominant teams the Captains have faced all season. Senior Danielle Duncan and junior Bianca Richburg are a tough tandem down low for head coach Randy Tuggle, leading the way in scoring and on the glass. Duncan is just shy of averaging a double-double with a team-high 18.3 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per, and Richburg does average a double-double with 11.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
The Captains and Pride split last season's regular season matchups, each team winning on their home floor, before CNU won the rubber match in the conference title game.
Tip is set for 2:00 pm in Greensboro.
