CNU Hosts Ferrum in USA South Action Saturday

Captains looking to extend seven-game winning streak

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Head coach John Krikorian and the Christopher Newport University men's basketball team will take the floor looking for its eighth straight victory on Saturday in the Freeman Center. The Captains (11-3, 3-0) will take on Ferrum College (9-5, 2-1) at 4:00 pm.

Live stats and a live video webcast will be available at CNUsports.com. The game will also be broadcast live on Xtra 99.1 FM, the CNU/Pepsi Radio Network.

CNU has surged out to and 11-3 start including its current seven-game winning streak. The Captains are receiving votes in the D3hoops.com National Rankings and are leading the USA South with an unbeaten record so far this season. Leading the way is senior Conley Taylor, who also leads the league in scoring with 21.3 points per game.

Ferrum is led by Lamont King and senior point guard Marcus Mayo. King is averaging 14.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for team-high's and Mayo is playing a team-high 30.8 miinutes per game, pouring in 12.9 points and 5.1 assists per contest. The Panthers are also riding a hot streak, winning seven of their last eight games.

Ferrum won two of three matchups last season against the Captains, including a victory in the USA South Semifinals. Tip for Saturday's game is set for 4:00 pm
