HAVERFORD, Pa. – The #4 Captains beat #8 California Lutheran in the first match of the Haverford College Tournament in three quick sets. The Captains played a great defensive match holding the Regals to a -.042 hitting percentage while putting up 10 blocks. Offensively
Christie Fellows and
Cory Harris led the way with seven kills each.
Set scores for the match were 25-15, 25-18 and 25-20.
Jessie Heavenrich had 27 assists for the Captains along with a service ace and four blocks.
Abby Hogge and Harris both had eight digs for CNU and Hogge also led the team with three service aces. Also standing out offensively for the Captains was
Chelsea McClure with six kills,
Bailey Jensen with six and Emily Kohler with five.
Jensen got up for 7 blocks and Fellows had five. The Captains had a total of 10 team blocks while the Regals had three.
The Regals were led offensively by Lauren Rohach with eight kills and Jaskie Russell with 12 assists.
The Captains take on Bluffton University tonight at 6:00pm in their second game of the tournament. This is the first meeting between CNU and Bluffton. Livestats will be available at
