VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The third-ranked Captains remained undefeated today, improving to 4-0 with a 2-1 victory over Marymount University (1-1-1) in a neutral site contest. Christopher Newport scored twice within two minutes in the first half, including the eventual gamewinner from senior Steven Farmer with less than five minutes remaining.

Late in the first half, the Captains got on the board first, as rookie Alec Faulkner connected off an assist from senior Stephen Holmes. CNU would waste no time adding to the lead, scoring just over a minute and a half later. Junior defender Sean Moriarty sent a cross in from near the sideline and Farmer put it home with a header. It was his second goal in as many days, after scoring the equalizer in an overtime thriller on Friday night.

Marymount cut the lead in half just under four minutes into the second half when George Delgado scored an unassisted goal for the Saints in the 49th minute of action. That goal, though, would end the scoring on the night as Marymount would be unable to catch Christopher Newport.

CNU outshot the Saints 13-9, and starting goalkeeper Justin Wolfe made three saves to earn his fourth win of the season.

The Captains will stay out on the road for three straight games, including next weekend's trip to New York as CNU takes on Oneonta State and Vassar College. CNU will face Oneonta State on Friday, September 16 at 4:00 pm.
