MILLINGTON, Tenn. -- The No. 1/2 Christopher Newport Captains (39-5) will open the 2011 NCAA South Regional on Wednesday, as they face off against Webster University (30-11) at Noon, central, 1:00 pm eastern. CNU, the top seed in the Millington, Tenn. Regional, enters the 2011 NCAA Tournament winners in 10 of their last 11 contests, including a clean sweep of the USA South Tournament. Joining the Captains in the South Regional is USA South rival and 3rd ranked Shenandoah University, listed as the No. 2 seed. Piedmont is the #3, Salisbury #4, Wabash #5 and Webster rounds out the six-team regional as the #6.

Tournament Website. Ticket prices are $6 for general admission, $3 for seniors and children under 12, and a full weekend tournament pass can be purchased for $20.
The Gorlocks have posted a 30-win season for the second straight year and feature a speedy offense that ranks among the nation's best. Webster ranks number two in the nation in stolen bases with 177 on the season, averaging over 4 per game. Anthony Genna and Tom Henke lead the way, each averaging .372 at the plate with 32 extra-base hits combined.
Christopher Newport boasts a balanced attack on offense and on defense. The Captains are among the nation's leader in home runs (sixth with 40 total) and doubles (second with 111 total). The pitching staff features three starters with sub-2.30 ERA and leans on a defense that has turned the sixth most double plays in the nation this year.
The winner of the opening round game, the first of the South Regional, will advance to face the loser of game three between Salisbury and Piedmont at 3:30 pm, central, on Thursday.
