Baseball Drops Alma to Win Seventh Game in Six Days, 11-3

Jacob Vaughn pitches five innings in start

Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Christopher Newport University earned its 12th straight win and seventh road win in six days with an 11-3 victory over Alma College on Thursday, improving to 13-1 overall. The 13-1 mark is the program's best start through 14 games in school history.

Jacob Vaughn pitched five innings and struck out four to earn his first win of the season. Vaughn gave up just three hits in the start, anchoring a solid day on the hill for CNU. Austin Freer and Jacob Sullivan eached pitched an inning, while Matt Verdillo came on to close out the game. Verdillo struck out four in two innings of work.

CNU returns to action on Saturday, March 5 as the Captains return to USA South play. CNU will host Methodist University at Noon in a doubleheader. Live stats will be available at www.sidearmstats.com/cnu/baseball
