NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The 13th ranked Christopher Newport University Captains (20-3, 14-2) play host to the Methodist Monarchs (13-10, 11-5) in USA South women's basketball action on Friday, with tip set for 5:30 in the Freeman Center. The game is a part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) "Pink Zone" as the Captains help raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
The USA South Athletic Conference's basketball teams have joined the global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the Freeman Center on Friday night, as the Captains will be wearing pink laces in honor of the cause.
The Captains faced a stiff challenge against the Monarchs in Fayetteville this season, as the Monarchs are the only team to outrebound CNU all season. Christopher Newport escaped with an eight-point win and will be looking to improve on that margin on Friday night. The nation's leading scorer,

Jessica Moore and
Barbara Davis are coming off of tremendous individual performances, as Moore set a career-high with 31 points in the Captains last game, while Davis also set a career-high in rebounding, hauling in 20 boards.
Methodist is looking to position itself in the USA South Tournament with an opportunity to host the first round on Tuesday night. The Monarchs have won four straight games and are averaging over 70 points per game in the last five games. Dawn Sanderson and Jackie Lyles lead the way, averaging double figures for Methodist University.
