NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Christopher Newport University volleyball squad is hosting the CNU Invitational this weekend with two matches tonight and four tomorrow. Competing this weekend is No. 11 Juniata College, Salisbury University and the University of Mary Washington.

The first match-up of the Invitational is Salisbury versus Mary Washington at 5:00pm tonight. Salisbury is currently 18-1 with their only loss coming from Mount Union. The Eagles are 13-4 this season with one of their losses coming from USA South member North Carolina Wesleyan.

Following the Eagles and Sea Gulls will be the Captains' first game of the weekend. They will battle the Eagles of Juniata College at 8:00pm. The Captains are looking for their first win over the Eagles as the teams have met six times in program history with Juniata coming out on top each time. The matches start at 10:00am on Saturday with Mary Washington and Juniata taking the court.

Mary Washington stays on the court to face the Captains at 12:00pm. This will be the 27th time the two have met and Mary Washington leads the series 21-5. The last match between the two teams was in 2009 and the Captains won 3-1.

Up next is Salisbury versus Juniata set to start at 2:00pm. The Captains and Sea Gulls end the day with a match slated to start at 4:00pm. The series record between the Captains and Sea Gulls is 13-8 in favor of Salisbury. The Captains won the match-up last season 3-2.
