NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Freeman Center opens it's doors tonight for more USA South action, as the Captains will face off against Averett University at 5:30 & 7:30 pm. The women take the hardwood first, as the 5th ranked Captains host the Cougars (7-7, 3-5), looking to extend their home court winning streak to 31. Then, at 7:30, the men will tip against Averett, who have struggled so far this season, to the tune of a 2-15 mark overall.

The women's team is riding a 7-game winning streak heading into tonight's game, and are 13-1 overall. CNU is led by Chelsie Schweers, coming off a pair of 30-point performances. Schweers leads the nation in scoring at 25.6 points per game and is climbing the NCAA All-Time charts as well, in a tie for 7th all-time in scoring with 2,357 points.

Averett's Ashley Washington leads the way for the Cougars, averaging a double-double so far this season. She is also shooting at a team-high .462 clip so far this season.

Senior Mike Green is coming off one of the finest weeks of his career to help lead the Captains into third place in the USA South standings. Green and the Captains upset #22 Ferrum last time out and are now 2-1 in league play. Junior guard Conley Taylor also has been key, ranking among the nation's top ten in scoring by averaging a team-high 23.8 points. Taylor is just three points away from 1,000 in his career.

Averett is just 2-15 overall this season, including an 0-4 mark in USA South play. Kenny Hart is the team leader offensively, averaging 16.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
