NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Captains are on the road Friday as they travel to Ferrum, Va. to take on Methodist and Greensboro. CNU hosted both Methodist and Greensboro two weeks ago on September 19. The Captains won both matches 3-0.
CNU is currently 16-1 overall and 9-0 in conference play. Methodist is 7-9 and 3-6 in the USA South while Greensboro is 15-4 and 8-1 in the conference.
The Captains beat Methodist with set scores of 25-14, 25-7 and 25-12 in their last matchup. The Captains were led by
Kara Elder (Charlottesville, Va.) with seven kills and
Chelsea McClure (Montclair, Va.) with five service aces.
Abby Hogge (Clifton, Va.) had 12 digs in the match and added four service aces.
Caitlyn Jansen (Lorton, Va.) and
Chastity Lacy (Crozet, Va.) both added three blocks. The Monarchs were led by
Stephanie Wood with five kills and
Kayci Miller with 16 assists and eight digs.
The set scores with Greensboro two weeks ago were 25-15, 25-13, and 25-15. Elder led in kills in this match as well with nine.
Jessie Heavenrich (Cambria, Calif.) had 36 assists and
Bailey Jensen (Ashburn, Va.) added three blocks. The Pride was led by
Brittany Hunsucker with seven kills,
Dana Sandknop with 19 assists,
Danielle Simpson with 19 digs and
Sha McDuffie with three blocks.
Methodist will play Ferrum College at 1:30pm before facing the Captains at 3:30pm. CNU will play the Pride of Greensboro College at 5:30pm.
