COMPLETE GAME NOTES - GAME THREE at FROSTBURG STATE UNIVERSITY
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport Captains football team (0-2) will stay out on the road this week as they take on Frostburg State University (0-2). Each team will be looking for their first victory of the season as the Bobcats host the Captains in week three of the college football season. The game will kick-off at 1:00 pm and can be heard live on Xtra 99.1 FM and cnusports.com.
CNU and Frostburg have a common opponent already this season, as each faced #3 Wesley College. Wesley dropped CNU in the opener 34-6 before handing Frostburg State a 47-0 blanking at home last week. The Captains are looking to avoid the first 0-3 start since the first year of the program's history, as they face Frostburg State for the first time in the ten-year history of CNU football.
The Captains have been led offensively by senior wide receiver
T.J. Foster (Randolph, Va.), who posted a 110-yard receiving day last week against Salisbury. Senior
Keith Gaines (Roanoke, Va.) continues to lead CNU on the ground while fifth-year QB
Matt Long (Virginia Beach, Va.) has been under center for the first two games. Defensively, junior
Mike King (Centreville, Va.) and pre-season All-American linebacker
Adrin Diggs (Smithfield, Va.) lead the way with 17 and 16 tackles, respectively.
Frostburg State's Josh Volpe has taken all the snaps for the Bobcats, averaging 94.5 yards through the air with one TD in two weeks. Anthony King has been the featured back, with 96 yards rushing and a pair of TDs.
