Women's Basketball Takes 19th in a Row, 90-46 Over Peace

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport women's basketball team ran its unbeaten streak to 19, as five players scored in double figures in a 90-46 victory over Peace Monday night at the Freeman Center.

The Captains once again surged ahead early, building their lead to ten points in less than five minutes. By halftime it was 45-26 CNU.

Alyssa Kerr scored 17 points coming off the bench for CNU, hitting 6-12 from the floor. She also had nine rebounds. Chelsie Schweers also had 17, after playing just three minutes in the first half due to foul trouble.

Jessica Moore added 12 points, Kimmy Hopkins scored ten and Jerlisa Bowser also had ten. Dayna Cheek paced CNU in rebounding with ten as the Captains dominated the boards, 56-28.

For Peace, Leanne Horne led the way with 14 points.

The Captains are now 19-0 and 12-0 in USA South play. Peace is 7-10 and 3-8 in the conference.

CNU goes on the road Saturday, visiting N.C. Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
