Women's Basketball looks to stay undefeated this season

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The third-ranked Captains of Christopher Newport (4-0, 1-0) look to remain undefeated this season as they take on Peace College (3-2, 0-1) at 2:00 pm on Saturday. CNU is coming off a win in the USA South opener on Wednesday, when they traveled to Shenandoah and came away with a 74-62 win.

The game will tip at 2:00 pm at the Freeman Center in Newport News, as CNU returns home after the one-game road trip. The game will be live audio broadcast via Captains Sports Live at www.cnusports.com and can be found here. Live stats will also be available, by clicking here.

Christopher Newport, ranked 3rd in the country by both d3hoops.com and the WBCA, has gone 34-1 in its last 35 contests dating back through last season, including a 4-game winning streak to open this season. Senior Chelsie Schweers became the Captains all-time leading scorer earlier this season and is leading the team with 25.5 points per game. Barbara Davis (9.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg) and Jessica Moore (8.8 ppg, 7.3 rpg) are holding down the frontcourt for CNU.

The Peace Pacers were selected to finish ninth in the USA South Preseason Poll, but have won three of their first five games this season. Peace is coming off a setback to Ferrum in their conference opener, as sophomore forward Angel Fuller posted a double-double in that game. The Pacers are led by Karissa Herring, averaging 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
