NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The third-ranked Captains of Christopher Newport University (5-0, 2-0) are back in action this Sunday, December 12 at 2:00 pm, as they play host to Meredith College (2-3, 0-2) in USA South play. Fans are offered free admission if they bring a new and unused toy to the game, as CNU will donate the toys to charity this holiday season.
The game will tip-off at 2:00 pm and will be video stream live via Captains Sports Live at www.CNUsports.com. Live stats and audio are also available for Sunday's game.
CNU has jumped out to a 5-0 start this season, and have won 35 of their last 36 games dating back to the start of last season. Senior
Chelsie Schweers leads the way in her final season, averaging 23.4 points per game so far this season. She has 299 career three-pointers and with one more, will become just the 14th player all-time to hit 300 in her career. Fellow senior
Barbara Davis is also having a stellar start to her final campaign, averaging 9.8 rebounds and 9.2 points per game.
Meredith won two of their first three games, but are currently riding a two-game losing streak, both in league play. The Avenging Angels are led by junior Megan Rahn, averaging a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds per game.
After Sunday's game, CNU will travel to Hawaii for the Hoop 'n Surf Tournament next week.
