NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Captains opened up the CNU Invitational with a 3-0 victory over Washington and Lee University. The win improves the Captains to 20-1 and drops the Generals to 13-3.
CNU came out strong in the first set winning 25-12 and the second 25-18. The Generals pulled to within just two points of CNU in the third match before the Captains won four points in a row to seal the victory 25-19.
Bailey Jensen (Ashburn, Va.) had 11 kills for the Captains with
Christie Fellows (Vienna, Va.) and
Caitlyn Jansen (Lorton, Va.) both picking up seven.
Jessie Heavenrich (Cambria, Calif.) had 28 assists and 12 added twelve digs.
Abby Hogge (Clifton, Va.) led the Captains in digs with 16 and had two assists.
The Captains put up 10 blocks in the match with Fellows picking up five and Jansen six.
Bailey Walker and
M.A. Boles both had six kills for the Generals.
Megan Tomlinson had a team-high 13 digs and
Lindsey Dee had four blocks.
