COMPLETE GAME NOTES - GAME EIGHT vs. FERRUM

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- It's Homecoming Weekend at Christopher Newport University and the Captains (3-4, 3-1) will host the Ferrum College Panthers (3-4, 3-1) in a huge conference matchup Saturday at 1 pm. The USA South game will kick off at 1 pm at POMOCO Stadium and will be broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) with the pre-game show beginning at 12:30 pm. Fans can also listen to the game live on Captains Sports Live (www.cnusports.com).

The Captains and Panthers are playing for the tenth time in the all-time series, with CNU leading, 8-1. The teams played on Halloween last year in Ferrum, and the Captains came home with a 28-14 win, marking the sixth straight victory against the Panthers.

Last weekend, the Captains won big with a 37-7 home victory over Greensboro College. Rookie Kentel Noel was named to the D3Football.com National Team of the Week, after amassing 206 yards on punt returns with a pair of electrifying touchdowns.

Ferrum has won three straight games and are coming off an offensive explosion at Shenandoah, where they won 56-20. Ferrum scored eight touchdowns against the Hornets, with six coming on the ground. It was the second time this season the Panthers have eclipsed the 50-point mark. Quarterback Marcus Mayo leads the Panthers, with eight passing TDs, four rushing and he has also run for three scores on punt returns.
