RALEIGH, N.C. – The Christopher Newport University volleyball team won two matches today in USA South action with 3-0 victories against Peace College and Meredith College. The Captains improve to 28-2 today while Peace drops to 10-15 and Meredith to 13-14.
Set scores for the match versus Peace were 25-13, 25-18, 25-14. The
Caitlyn Jansen (Lorton, Va.) had 11 kills and two blocks for the Captains.
Alyssa Kidd (Lynchburg, Va.) had a career-high 33 assists in the match while adding three service aces and a block.
Abby Hogge (Clifton, Va.) earned 18 digs with
Cory Harris (Williamsburg, Va.) putting up three aces.
Peace was led by
Amber Lowe with six kills.
Olivia Griffin had 16 assists and
Taylor Johnson had four blocks.
Set scores against Meredith were 25-17, 25-11 and 25-15.
Leading the way for the Captains against Meredith was Jansen with eight kills. Kidd had 32 assists and three service aces. Hogge added eight digs as did Kidd.
Kara Elder (Charlottesville, Va.),
Bailey Jensen (Ashburn, Va.) and Kidd each had a pair of blocks.
Lindsay Stephens (Lorton, Va.) added three aces for the Captains.
Meredith was led by
Cori Spade with seven kills while
Leanne Burton had 11 assists.
Mallory Booker led with 13 digs and
Molly Markley added two blocks.
The Captains return to action with a 7:00pm match on October 26 in the Freeman Center against Randolph-Macon.
