NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Led by a career-high 36 points from
Chelsie Schweers, the CNU women kept their unbeaten streak alive with an 87-62 win over Salisbury Saturday at the Freeman Center.
The Captains jumped to an 8-0 lead in the opening moments and were never challenged.
CNU built its margin to 50-24 by halftime and eventually led by as many as 36, 70-34 with 13:25 to play.
Schweers topped her former career-high of 35 which she did in each of her first two seasons. It was also a Freeman Center women's record. She was 12-19 from the floor, including 8-12 on three-pointers. She also became CNU's fifth all-time leading scorer with a total of 1,473, jumping two places in one game.
Kimmy Hopkins added 13 points and
Barbara Davis 12.
The Captains dropped Salisbury to 5-3 on the year. CNU returns to conference action when they visit Shenandoah Wednesday at 5:30.
