FERRUM, Va. - Led by a career-high 26 points from
Conley Taylor, the CNU men built a big first half margin and coasted to a 74-60 win over Ferrum Sunday afternoon.
The Captains used a 17-0 run early in the first half to build a 25-7 lead and were on top, 43-25, at halftime. They limited the Panthers to 5-23 shooting from the floor and withstood the 22 free throws Ferrum was awarded in the half.
In the second period, CNU never led by less than 14 and had the margin up to 23 at 60-37 with 10:43 to play.
Taylor was 9-13 from the floor. The only other Captain in double figures was
Theo Baker who scored 15 points on 5-7 three-point shooting.
Mike Green had eight points and eight rebounds.
The win improved CNU to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in the USA South. Ferrum is now 8-9 and 2-3.
The Captains open a four-game homestand Saturday when they host Methodist at 4 p.m.
