ASHLAND, Va. – CNU scored once in each half and held Randolph-Macon in check until less than two minutes remained in the game, and scored a 2-1 men's soccer victory over the Yellow Jackets Tuesday afternoon. It was the first game for each team.
Clif Kipper got the Captains on the board in the 11th minute with an unassisted right foot blast into the right corner.
Danny Arinello tallied what would be the deciding goal less than two minutes into the second half when he tallied off a cross by Winston Mattheisen. Randolph-Macon's Thomas Eacho made it a one-goal game with the help of Andrew Parham with less than one and a half minutes to play.
The Captains outshot RMC, 19-2 with goalkeeper Justin Wolfe making one save.
CNU hosts the VCAM/CNU Classic Friday and Saturday with the Captains playing Bethany Friday and Kean Saturday. Both games are at 7:30.
