Box Score GREENSBORO, NC – Christopher Newport's baseball squad dropped a 15-9 decision at Greensboro Sunday evening.
The Pride scored multiple runs in four innings, plating four in the first and fourth, and three in each of the second and fifth frames.
The Captains scored once in the first and third, pushed across four in the fifth and three in the ninth.
Trae Bailey led the offensive charge, going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored. Chris Despins also finished 3-for-5. Michael Romett was 2-for-4 and Ben Lenda was 3-for-5 with two runs driven in.
Ian Lenda started and lasted just 1 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits to fall to 3-2. Jason Jenkins, Chris Malvagna and Kyle Baumann finished the game out.
The Pride improved to 12-17 on the year and 2-4 in USA South play. CNU falls to 16-6-1 overall and 4-4 in conference action.
Christopher Newport returns to the diamond Wednesday when they head to Randolph-Macon with first pitch set for 3 pm.
