BRIDGEWATER, VA – Christopher Newport's baseball team dropped a tough 4-3 decision at Bridgewater Tuesday afternoon.

CNU struck first in the top of the first when Chris Despins doubled home Trae Bailey. The Eagles tied the score in the bottom of the frame and took the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the second.

Bridgewater scored the eventual game-winner in the bottom of the sixth when the Eagles pushed across two runs.

Ben Lenda singled home two in the top of the eighth with one out. BC worked out of a one out, two on jam to hold on for the win.

Parker Neal finished 3-for-5. Bailey went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Lenda was 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Despins was 2-for-5.

Brandon Berry started and went 5 1/3 innings, allowed four runs on 11 hits, taking the loss. Ian Lenda went the rest of the way and did not allow a run on two hits, walked one and struck out two.

The Eagles improve to 12-13 while CNU falls to 15-5-1. The Captains return to action Saturday when they travel to Greensboro with first pitch set for 1 pm.
