RALEIGH, N.C. - With sophomore Alysa Kerr canning a career-high 22 points, the CNU women's basketball team remained unbeaten with an 81-54 win at Peace Saturday afternoon.
The Captains gradually pulled away in the second half after holding a 40-32 halftime advantage. CNU used a 13-2 run in the second half to break open the contest. Leading 46-39 with 14:20 to go, Kerr ignited the run with a jump shot. Chelsie Schweers had five points during the run and Kerr and Lauren Gural four each as CNU built a 59-41 margin with 10:50 remaining.
Kerr hit nine of 14 shots and added seven rebounds and three assists, all coming off the bench. Schweers scored 19 points, going 5-9 on three-pointers and Gural scored 10. Jessica Moore had eight points and 11 rebounds as CNU out-rebounded the Pacers, 47-37.
The Captains are now 5-0 and 2-0 in USA South play. They return to Raleigh next Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. meeting with Meredith.
