Women's Basketball Wins Ninth Straight with 78-67 Victory Over No. 24 Randolph-Macon

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A huge second half ignited the CNU women's basketball team to a 78-67 win over No. 24 Randolph-Macon Wednesday night at the Freeman Center. The victory was the Captains' ninth straight to start the season, a new school record.

Tied 32-32 at halftime, CNU exploded to as much as an 18-point lead and held on for the 11-point win.

Chelsie Schweers, held to just two free throws in the first half, poured in 24 in the second half to help ignite the surge. In the process she jumped two spots on CNU's all-time scoring list, passing Misty Hart and Dolmesha Stallings. Schweers now has 1,437 points in just 65 games.

Jessica Moore added 15 points for CNU, while Barbara Davis contributed 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Captains will host Salisbury Saturday afternoon at the Freeman Center.
