NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Christopher Newport had four players in double figures in kills and held off a determined Meredith team which won the second set, defeating the Avenging Angels, 25-14, 20-25, 25-15, 25-8, and advanced to the semi-finals of the USA South volleyball tournament Tuesday night at the Freeman Center.
  Led by Bailey Jensen with 14 kills, the Captains won the right to host the USA South final four for the third year in a row. It will be held Friday and Saturday at the Freeman Center.
  Cory Harris and Chelsea McClure each had 12 kills and Caitlyn Jansen added 11 for CNU. Harris also led with 22 digs, while Abby Hogge had 18, Rebecca Dancy 14 and Jessie Heavenrich 13. Heavenrich also contributed 50 assists, while Jensen added five blocks.
  For Meredith, Cori Spade led the way with 11 kills, with Mallory Booker adding seven. Morgan White had 19 digs, MaryBeth Finnegan 12, Booker 11 and Emily Anderson 10. Setter Rebecca Yow had 25 assists.
  Meredith closes its season with a 14-18 record. CNU is now 31-6 heading into the semi-finals which will be Friday at 5:00 and 7:30. The championship match will be at 5:00 Saturday.
