NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The CNU women's basketball team started its season with a 63-49 win over Lynchburg Wednesday at the Freeman Center.
The Captains jumped to a 9-0 advantage and quickly had a 15-point lead at 18-3 with 11:41 to go in the first half.
CNU eventually extended its margin to 25 points, 45-20, with 16:37 to play and coasted in with the win.
Chelsie Schweers led CNU with 15 points, while
Kimmy Hopkins added 14 and
Jessica Moore 11. Lynchburg was paced by Courtney Brewer who scored 15 points.
CNU remains at home to play Washington & Lee Saturday at 4 p.m.
