NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport men's and women's lacrosse programs have teamed up to help support the "Lacrosse the Nations" humanitarian organization by participating in "Scoop for Loot," a fundraising campaign designed to raise donations and pledges for LtN.

A team-oriented fundraising platform, "Scoop for Loot" was set up to help support Lacrosse the Nations, which is an organization designed to unify the lacrosse community to improve education and health while providing opportunities for children in need across the globe. Currently, LtN is serving close to 1,000 children in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Virginia, and Ohio by providing youth with life skills curriculum, nutrition programs, field trips, and a coaches' scholarship program.

Fans can help support the "Scoop for Loot" fundraiser by visiting the CNU donation pages on LacrosseTheNations.org. Direct links can be found at the top of this page. Interested parties can assist the cause with upfront donations or a unique pledge opportunity. Fans can make a monetary pledge for each team ground ball collected by the Captains during their upcoming games against Salisbury. The men host the Sea Gulls on April 2, while the women will battle SU on April 8.

All donations will directly support Lacrosse the Nations.

In addition to the "Scoop for Loot" program, Christopher Newport has long ties to Lacrosse the Nations. Current men's assistant coach Mikey Thompson worked with the program over the summer in Nicaragua. During his time in Managua, Thompson served as a program director for LtN and assisted with a wide variety of efforts, including English and health classes.
