NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Following an exciting day of track & field action, the High School Winter Frolic wrapped up the first day of competition at Christopher Newport's Freeman Center on Friday evening.

The two-day meet, which features over 1000 of the top athletes from around the region, saw champions crowned in 13 events on Friday with 17 more on tap tomorrow. Saturday's action will open with the girls' high jump at 9 a.m., while the girls' 1600 meters will kick off at 9:30 a.m. The Freeman Center opens 90 minutes prior to the day's first events.
