NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport University women's tennis team was picked to finish third in the 2012 USA South Women's Tennis preseason poll. The Captains picked up one first place vote and 64 points.
Methodist University was given seven first place votes and 79 points after capturing the regular season and tournament championships for two consecutive years. Meredith picked up two first place votes and 74 points for a second place pick.
Head coach Jenny Nuttycombe led the Captains to a 14-5 overall record and 6-2 conference record in 2011. The Captains are returning all four All-Conference selections from 2011; junior

Marion Gloor (2nd team),
Kim Morrissett (2nd team) and
Jodi Noland (3rd team).
The 2012 USA South Women's Tennis Tournament will once again be played at the Burlington Tennis Center in Burlington, North Carolina on April 13-15.
