FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Christopher Newport University volleyball player
Jessie Heavenrich (Cambria, Ca.) averaged 9.4 assists, 1.3 digs and 1.1 kills per set last week as the Captains began the season with a 3-1 record.
In a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan, Heavenrich recorded a double-double of 38 assists and ten digs. She also added two service aces and one kill in the win. In a 3-1 loss to second-ranked Juniata, Heavenrich tallied 28 assists, six kills, six digs and one block. In a 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall, Heavenrich contributed 13 assists and five digs.
Finally, in a 3-0 victory over Dickinson, Heavenrich recorded her second double-double of the week with 24 assists and 12 digs. She also added five kills, one service ace and one block in the win.
The Captains travel to San Antonio, Texas this weekend to compete in the Trinity Fall Classic where they will meet The University of Puget Sound, Trinity University, Pacific University and Southwestern University.
