NEWPORT NEWS, VA- Christopher Newport University men's basketball coach John Krikorian today completed his coaching staff for 2010-2011 with the addition of assistant SHAWN POSTIGLIONE.
“We are excited to add Shawn to our staff,” Krikorian said. “'Coach Post' is one of the sharpest, hardest working young coaches I know, and he will make an immediate positive impact on our program.”
Postiglione was one of the nation's youngest Division I coaches as he assisted Mike Deane the last three seasons at Wagner College in New York. The Staten Island native earned his bachelors of science degree from Wagner in just three years, and also completed his MBA at Wagner last fall. His coaching resume also includes a season at Lafayette College as a student assistant.
“I'm thrilled to be a part of Christopher Newport University basketball,” Postiglione said. “There is great basketball history here and I look forward to working with Coach Krikorian to add to that tradition.”
Postiglione will work on Krikorian's bench alongside CNU alums Roland Ross and Erick Mays. Ross is preparing for his 28th straight season coaching the Captains in 2010-2011. Mays, former Menchville High School head coach, joined Krikorian's staff as an assistant earlier this summer.
Krikorian, the fourth head coach in the history of CNU men's basketball, was named to succeed C.J. Woollum, CNU's head coach for the last 26 seasons, on June 14th.
