NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- This weekend, the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) announced the 2010 College Division All-State Women's Tennis Team, including a pair of rookie Captains. Freshmen Erin Spinks (Winchester, Va.) and Kim Morrisett (Midlothian, Va.) were each named to the All-State Second Team.

Morisett was a Second Team All-USA South selection this season, as she posted a dominant 17-1 mark in singles play, including an unbeaten 15-0 record at the No. 3 position. She won 17 straight matches in the spring while also posting an 8-4 mark in doubles play with three different partners.

Spinks earned Honorable Mention All-USA South honors after an undefeated 19-0 season predominately at the No. 4 position. Spinks went 14-0 at No. 4, while adding four wins at No. 3 and one at No. 2. She added 11 victories on the doubles side, playing with sophomore Lauren Kelly.

Washington and Lee University took home two of the top three awards on the 2010 VaSID College Division All-State Women's Tennis Team.  Senior Lauren Caire was named Player of the Year, while her coach Eric Ishida earned Coach of the Year honors.  Hollins University freshman Karen Montoya nabbed this year's Rookie of the Year award.

Joining Caire and Montoya on this year's All-State first team were W&L's Ellen Yeatman, Averett University's Emilia Vourella, Sweet Briar College's Virginia Bennett Edahl and University of Mary Washington's Courtney Giomarac.  Second team selections include W&L's Ann Morris and Blair Brzeski, Hollin's Sarah Budrus, Roanoke College's Laura Dodson and Christopher Newport University's Erin Spinks and Kim Morrisett.

VaSID was formed in 1983, and is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of Virginia.
