WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The CNU golf team grabbed an eight shot lead after the first day of the Glenn Heath Shipbuilder Memorial Tournament Monday at Ford's Colony.

The Captains fired a 297 total to lead Lynchburg by eight and Averett by 13. CNU's "B" team was actually tied for third with Averett at 310.

Joseph Evans stood in second place inividually with an even-par 72, one shot back of Lynchburg's Conrad Anguera. 

CNU then held four of the next five places. Chris Olson shot a 73 to tie Averett's Nathan Daly, while Brian Jaeger was fifth at 74. 

Chris Martin and Ian Brennan, playing with the "B" team had a 75 and 76 respectively.

The tournament concludes Tuesday.
