WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The CNU golf team shot a steady 297-300--597 and won the Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Invitational by nine shots Tuesday at Ford's Colony.

CNU led by eight after Monday's first round and defeated Lynchburg by nine shots. Averett was third at 310-300--610 and the CNU B team was fourth in the 14-team event with a 310-307--617.

Joseph Evans placed second individually with an even-par 72-72-144, three shots behind winner Conrad Anguera, of Lynchburg. Chris Martin, playing with CNU's B team, was third at 75-70--145 and Chris Olson was fifth with a 73-76--149. Brian Jaeger was tenth with a 74-78--152.

The Captains will next play in the USA South championship in Burlington, N.C., April 16-18.
