Sailing Finishes Second in Leroy Grant Regatta

WILLIAMSBURG, VA – The CNU sailing team competed in the William and Mary Leroy Grant Regatta this past weekend, April 17-18, in Williamsburg, VA. The Captains came in second in the event after placing second in both the A and B divisions.


The first rotation was sailed in 15-20 mph winds on Saturday morning with Stevens Institute of Technology coming out on top with a score of 18, taking first place in the A division. CNU clinched second place with a score of 22 with William and Mary taking third with a score of 27, leaving
Salisbury and the University of Maryland tied for fourth place.

 

The second rotation took place Sunday with winds picking up to 20 mph. The Captains took control and ended the B division with a solid score of 32. William and Mary finished up the regatta with a score 20 placing them in first for the entire regatta with a score of 47 while CNU finished second overall with a score of 54. This left Stevens taking third with an overall score of 59.

 

The CNU team was composed of skippers Maxwell Plarr, Tyler Myers and Taylor Gray and crew members Kira Munger, Brennan Russell and Lynn Ball.
