NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport placed three players on the annual all-USA South team announced by the conference Wednesday.
  Sophomore center fielder Shannon Mark, of Burke, Va., led the way with a second team outfield selection. He is hitting .348 on the year with a home run and 25 RBIs.
  Named to the honorable mention list were sophomore left fielder Connor Madden and senior pitcher Josh Brinkman.
  Madden, from Oak Hill, Va., is hitting .371 with a team-leading six home runs and 32 RBIs. Brinkman, a native of Newport News, is the Captains' No. 1 starter. He has a 5-3 record and 3.32 ERA.
  The Captains, now 18-12, open play in the USA South Tournament Thursday morning at 9:30 against Ferrum.
